Red Campion Silene dioca
A typical flower of English hedgerows and woodland glades. Very pretty.
Stems are narrow, slightly hairy and tinged a reddish-brown which gives a lovely contrast with the small clear green leaves. The small five-petalled flowers are a strong rose pink with tiny white centres.
The mix of different tones makes them combine well with a wide variety of other flowers. Use in table posies

Meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria
A traditional wild flower of the English summer countryside known as ‘Queen of the Meadow’. Used as a church strewing because of its scented leaves.
Mahogany brown stems and leaf stems contrast with deep green pinnate leaves, paler on the underside. Creamy white puffs of tiny fragrant flowers in dense branched frothy masses.
Use in arrangements as a replacement for ammi or similar lace cap filler. Looks particularly effective massed. A very good flower for weddings, especially where budget is restricted – gives an instant bridal effect to arrangements.
Stem length: 50-120cm.
Longevity:
Individual price: 39p per 60cm stem in batches of 25 stems. Longer lengths available on request.

Meadow Cranesbill Geranium pratense
Use branching stems in arrangements to provide filler and structure and make the more expensive garden flowers go further or use smaller stems in jam jar posies to provide a pop of blue. Very useful for table centres where the heat of the marquee will cause new flowers to open continually while old flowers go over – scattering their petals over the table cloth in a natural confetti that couldn’t be fresher.
