Purple
Common Reed Phragmites australis
A light feathery plume of soft dark purple with irridescent highlights and very robust stems. Heads become larger and silvery-purple in colour as season progresses.
A good ‘spike’ of colour that adds drama and movement to arrangements and goes well with late summer flowers. Very popular last year.
Available until late September depending on seasonal conditions.
Suitable for both hand-ties and arrangements. Tests have not been done on this but the very robust stems would probably be suitable for foam based arrangements.
Stem length: 50-175cm.
Longevity: Excellent – two weeks in water; all day out of water.

Meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria
A traditional wild flower of the English summer countryside known as ‘Queen of the Meadow’. Used as a medieval church strewing as the leaves are scented when dried.
Clusters of lime green circular seed heads, with unusual whorled pattern, on top of mahogany brown stems and leaf stems which contrast with deep green pinnate leaves, paler on the underside.
A very effective filler for late summer, adding both bulk and texture; we sold a lot of this last year. Available until mid-September depending on seasonal conditions.
Suitable for both hand-ties and arrangements.
Stem length: 50-120cm.
Longevity: Very good – over a week in water; several hours out of water.
Individual price: 39p per 90cm stem in batches of 25 stems. Can be supplied in longer lengths on request at no extra cost.

Oak Stems with Acorns Quercus robur
The native oak of England with classic ‘pipe stem’ acorns.
Stout dark brown irregular stems, with clusters of dark green wavy edged leaves just touched with brown for that perfect autumn look. Light green acorns. Acorn bearing stems are on the shorter side stems of the main branches.
Suitable for hand-ties and large arrangements. Very popular for autumn weddings.
Goes well with crab-apples and sunflowers. A sample large branch has been included with your order.
Stem length: 50cm – 80cm. Larger branches over 100cm.
Longevity: no tests done at present.
Individual price: 49p per stem. Larger branches 65p per stem.
Wild Flowers
Brown

Bulrush Typhus latifolia
A large fat candle shaped head of mid to dark brown with a velvet/suede texture and tall pointed ‘wick’ on robust mid green stems. Strong and dramatic in impact.
Adds an unusual element to flower arrangements. A good complement to roses or bright tropical flowers. Can also be used with Dracaena spikes and a single large bloom for a minimalist look.
Best in arrangements, though smaller heads could be used in hand-ties.
Note that the heads must be spritzed with hair spray at intervals to prevent seeding. (This will have been done once prior to delivery.)
Also suitable for dried arrangements. Ensure stems are completely dry before doing this if in water previously.
Stem length: 80cm – 200cm.
Longevity: Three weeks to date in water in a cool place; tests not yet done in a warm place; indefinitely when dried.
Individual price: 45p per 90cm stem in batches of 10 stems. Can be supplied in longer lengths on request at no extra cost.
