The Country Garden Year
To help you plan ahead we’ve created four style references for each of the main flowering seasons as well as specialist themes for winter. Annuals in this year’s must have colours enable you to stand out from your competitors.
All flowering times subject to seasonal conditions.

Spring March – April references a country orchard around a cottage garden – the hedges and trees full of pure white blossom with wild flowers in the meadow grass below; emerging foliage and early flowering shrubs providing lots of spikes and arching stems; and potting shed bulbs in round pots suitable as table centres or gifts.
Colours – blue, pale pink, cream, white, clear and light yellow, purple, fresh greens
Garden flowers – (crocus), daffodils, narcissi, grape hyacinth,
Foliage and filler – forsythia, hawthorn, hazel, willow, alder, flowering currant, blackthorn, kerria, fruit blossom, periwinkle, dogwood, (grey poplar), (balsam poplar), oak, ash
Wild flowers – primroses, (cowslips), violets, celandines, snakes head fritillaries, (lily of the valley), (wood anenomes)

Late spring/early summer May – June references the classic herbaceous border and rose garden of an English country house
Colours – blue, pink, cream, white, yellow, purple, fresh greens
Garden flowers – narcissi, sweet william, (roses), sweet peas, (peonies)
Foliage and filler – hawthorn, flowering currant, blackthorn, kerria, periwinkle, dogwood, (grey poplar), (balsam poplar), oak, ash
Wild flowers – primroses, (cowslips), violets, celandines, snakes head fritillaries, (lily of the valley), (bluebells)

Foliage and filler – common reed, meadowsweet seedpods, oak stems with acorns, hawthorn stems with berries, blackthorn, eupatorium, solidago, cotoneaster with berries, spiraea, mint, snowberry foliage, wild rose hips, dogwood with berries, ivy flowers
